Applicants should possess demonstrated proficiency in Chinese and English as recognised by the Department.
Proof of English proficiency is required for all applicants whose bachelor’s degrees were obtained from institutions outside Hong Kong where the medium of instruction is not English. These applicants must meet the following minimum requirements for English proficiency:
A score of 6.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent.
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or equivalent.
To develop in students personal qualities which support their daily work and professional development;
To develop in students a functional knowledge of disciplines which informs educational practice;
To develop in students expertise as subject specialist teachers in local schools; and
To develop in students knowledge essential for effective functioning within the profession and the wider school context.
For applicants applying for the English specialising subject:
A band score of 6.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent
For applicants applying for non-English specialising subjects:
A band score of 6.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent
Applicants should possess:a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or equivalent;a postgraduate diploma/certificate in education or equivalent in a subject other than the specialising subject of the chosen stream.
The Subject Teaching and Subject Knowledge (STSK) Stream aims to provide professional training in pedagogical skills and subject knowledge pertaining to a specialising subject for school teachers who did not major in this subject for their university study and PGDE (or equivalent) training.
Applicants are expected to communicate in English at an advanced level, meeting one or more of the following qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification earned from an English-medium institution; or
A band score of 6.5 or above in IELTS; or
TOEFL scores of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based); or
CET-6 (College English Test band 6): 450; or a pass in CET-6 for the old version of CET.
Academic QualificationA bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or comparable institution; orA qualification deemed to be equivalent.

To locate students’ artistic and academic practices in global and local socio-cultural contexts;
To enable students to develop their own creative profiles according to their research interests in a specific visual arts discipline (their declared concentration); and
To meet the growing demand for professional practitioners in the cultural and creative sectors in Hong Kong and beyond.
