The Doctor of Business Administration Programme (工商管理博士學(xué)位課程), is designed to provide a higher intellectual platform for organisational leaders and potential “practitioner-scholars” to further develop themselves to meet the challenges of the dynamic business world and to make application-oriented scholarly contributions in business and management.
Launched in 2008/09, the programme is tailor-made to meet the demand for a part-time route to a postgraduate qualification at doctoral level and has a more structured approach than the traditional part-time PhD, with an emphasis on the significant contribution to practice, policy or strategy within the context of the individual’s workplace or professional practice. It aims to provide both generic training in research methods in social sciences and subject-specific training in research methodologies appropriate to business and management. It also helps to develop vital management skills on analytical, conceptual and critical thinking and strategy generation which are essential for problem-solving and strategic planning.
Proof of English proficiency is required for all applicants whose bachelor’s degrees were obtained from non-English medium institutions. These applicants must meet the following minimum requirements for English proficiency:
a score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based test) in TOEFL; or
an overall band score of 6.5 in IELTS.

The programme aims to equip bachelor's degree graduates with the necessary accounting knowledge and skills to pursue a career in professional accounting and to provide a learning environment to develop students for executive positions in the accounting area in Hong Kong and the Greater China region.
Since English is the medium of instruction and that some China business related courses may be taught in Chinese, applicants should possess both a good command of English and a working level of Chinese.
For MBA Hong Kong class, if English was not the medium of instruction for the first degree, applicants are required to provide evidence of good English proficiency e.g. English standard with:

A distinct feature of the MScAAF Programme is to emphasise on the integration of the knowledge in both accounting and finance disciplines. This programme attempts to add value to accounting and finance professionals, business managers and executives by providing 11 courses covering the applied knowledge and skills in accounting and finance fields. Besides 8 required courses, students can select 2 more elective courses, so that they shall have a balanced knowledge in both disciplines. Additional one non-credit bearing course can also widen the exposure of the students, and bring them up-to-date in various current business issues. Students’ understanding of the conceptual and practical issues relating to both accounting and finance disciplines will be nurtured in the teaching and learning process.

The overall scholastic record and potential of the applicant for admission is more important than prior preparation in specific areas of economics. While undergraduate specialisation in economics is desirable, the programme is open to students whose undergraduate degree has been in other fields.
This programme, Master of Science in Applied Economics (MScAEcon), provides rigorous theoretical and applied training in economic analysis. By taking various applied electives, in addition to the theoretical cores, students will be trained to analysing economic issues relevant to their work.

Other than students from native English speaking countries, an English language qualification is required: IELTS is our preferred test of language. You need at least an IELTS overall band score of 6.5 or equivalent, but 7.0 with at least 6 in all the component tests is desirable. If you are unable to sit the IELTS, you should take TOEFL. If you take TOEFL, please note that the internet-based test (iBT) is the only TOEFL qualification that we accept. TOEFL iBT’s equivalent: 88.
