We teach plant sciences as an experimental science. We concentrate on rapidly advancing areas such as signalling between plants under stress and pathogen attacks, the contribution of plants to the global carbon cycle and global warming. We examine these issues at many levels including the control and regulation of gene expression, developmental physiology, communities and ecosystems.

This combination of subjects gives you the chance to examine ideas about human nature and society that underpin political theory. You'll study modules in the Department of Politics and the Department of Philosophy. Half your modules will be in politics, the other half in philosophy.

This course will provide you with a excellent understanding of the prehistoric human past and the methods used to investigate the material remains of past communities. You'll develop a global, critical perspective on past societies and their diverse ways of life from the time of the ice ages to the origins of farming, and you'll acquire the intellectual and practical skills necessary to discover, interpret and communicate all kinds of archaeological evidence.
