On this innovative degree you'll be taught by academic staff with a commitment to teaching and research and examine how conflicts can be resolved and prevented within the context of global politics and international security. In year one, you'll be introduced to core concepts through the module Politics and Governance in the Contemporary World plus two further courses either from within the Department or from a wide range of courses offered by other Departments in the University.
Our Philosophy degree allows you to study and debate important philosophical questions with expert academics and your peers. How should we live? Is there a God? Are we free to act as we wish if everything is determined by prior causes? Why should we obey the law? Can science discover all the facts that can be known?
Philosophy and Politics are two highly important and complementary disciplines and you'll study and debate a range of relevant contemporary issues with scholars at the forefront of their academic field. For example, what obligations do we have to the state? Can ideas change the world? How should we think about right and wrong, truth and falsity?
