A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualifications

The Master of Arts in Applied English Linguistics (MAAEL) programme is designed to meet the growing demand from professionals and individuals who are concerned with the use of language in a wide range of situations. It introduces students to the application of linguistic theories and methods in a variety of professional settings. It is therefore relevant not only to language teachers, but also to those who have a general interest in language issues or engage in solving language-related problems in other professions.

報(bào)讀這個(gè)課程的申請(qǐng)人必須持有認(rèn)可的高等院校所頒授的學(xué)士學(xué)位 (本科)，或同等資格。

此乃面授課程，學(xué)生可選讀全日制或兼讀制。由首次注冊(cè)報(bào)讀起計(jì)，全日制學(xué)生可于一年內(nèi)完成課程，而兼讀制學(xué)生必須于兩年內(nèi)完成課程。惟在特殊情況下，人文社會(huì)科學(xué)院院長(zhǎng)可酌情批準(zhǔn)延長(zhǎng)修讀年期。國(guó)內(nèi)學(xué)生必須修讀全日制，并須在開(kāi)學(xué)前最少三個(gè)月向香港入境處申請(qǐng)國(guó)內(nèi)學(xué)生簽證。全日制學(xué)生可申請(qǐng)當(dāng)兼職 導(dǎo)師。 實(shí)用翻譯文學(xué)碩士課程每年只招收新生一次，于九月份開(kāi)課。

Applicants may be required to attend an admission interview and/or written test.

1. a recognized degree (or equivalent) in an arts-related or a business-related area; or2. a recognized degree (or equivalent) in other areas, plus at least two years of relevant working experience.

The Master of Creative and Cultural Industries Management (MCCIM) programme aims at strengthening students’ understanding of creative and cultural industries management and developing their professional leadership and strategic business skills for the field. It equips students with the relevant perspectives and skills to become competent leaders in creative and cultural industries.The programme will be jointly offered by the School of Arts and Social Sciences (A&SS) and Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration (B&A).

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications.

To equip students with a thorough understanding of cultural and heritage tourism from the cultural, heritage, historical, anthropological, sociological and economic angles.

A TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 79 (internet-based test); or An overall band score of 6 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic); or A College English Test (CET6) score of PRC, normally not lower than 430; or Other equivalent qualifications in English.

Applicants should have obtained a recognized Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent. An undergraduate degree in economics or related areas is not a pre-requisite. Students with a solid quantitative background and interest in economic analysis are encouraged to apply.

The courses in the programme will be taught through a face-to-face mode. Students enrolled in the MSSCIED programme are expected to complete the study in either one academic year on a full-time basis or two academic years on a part-time basis. Part-time students who need more than two years to finish the Master’s programme will need to seek approval from the Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences.

A Bachelor’s degree;* Candidates with equivalent qualifications and relevant translation experience

The change in Hong Kong’s sociopolitical climate since 1997 has triggered the Government to implement a bilingual legal system using Chinese in addition to English as the language of law. As a world city, Hong Kong is in need of competent professional translators for both the public and private legal sectors. The Open University of Hong Kong has a strong tradition in offering postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in language studies and translation. In addition to its BA (Honours) in Language and Translation and MA in Applied Translation, the School of Arts and Social Sciences will offer a specialised programme, the Master of Arts in Legal Translation (MALT), from September 2008. This programme is designed to meet the growing demand for translators in the legal profession. For students interested in language, the study of legal translation will enhance their knowledge of a specialised field of language use.
