2015-16申請季中將近一半的學生主文書寫的是“成長背景、身份、興趣和才能”，為最熱門的文書主題。而只有4%的學生選擇了寫“挑戰(zhàn)過的信仰或觀念”，為最冷門主題。
下面是2015-16主文書寫作統(tǒng)計：
Option 1: Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. (47%)
選題1：一些學生有非常重要的背景、身份、興趣或才能，如果不予講述出來的話，那就不是完整的申請。如果你是這樣的學生，請分享你的故事。
Option #2: The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? (17%)
選題2: 失敗是成功之母。敘述一件你失敗過的事情或是一段失敗沮喪的時期。它對你有何影響，你從中學到了什么?
Option #3: Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again? (4%)
選題3：你有挑戰(zhàn)過固有的信仰或觀念嗎?是什么促使你產(chǎn)生這樣的行為?你現(xiàn)在還會做出同樣的選擇嗎?
Option #4: Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma--anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. (10%, 但這個是2015年才開始采用的新文書主題)

Common App官方已經(jīng)宣布2016-17的主文書題目將保持不變，所以11年級的同學們現(xiàn)在就可以開始構(gòu)思文書寫作，點擊此處即可查看我們以前一篇關(guān)于主文書題目的深度剖析文章。考慮到招生官員、升學顧問、家長和學生對文書寫作方面的考量，Common App從現(xiàn)在起每兩年更新主文書題目，而不是每年都更新。
“Common App與600多所大學合作，我們想確保每個申請者都能找到適合自己的文書題目，在文書中展現(xiàn)其獨特和優(yōu)秀”，Common App資深總監(jiān)Scott Anderson如是說。
對于一些大學，除了主文書寫作要求，還會有自己學校的補充文書，如哈佛耶魯。另外，加州大學系列分校、伊利諾伊香檳分校、賓州州立大學等一些公立大學不使用Common App申請系統(tǒng), 而采用自己的申請系統(tǒng)，用的自然?是不同的文書題目。
