英國脫歐公投投票馬上就要開始了,投票結(jié)果也將于本周公布。這一結(jié)果不僅對英國本國的經(jīng)濟有影響,將會對全球經(jīng)濟和金融市場造成極大的震蕩。當(dāng)然,對于研究經(jīng)費來自于歐盟的英國大學(xué)來說,也深深地關(guān)于其未來的命運。因此,包括牛劍帝國校長在內(nèi)的英國103位大學(xué)校長于昨天發(fā)布了一封致選民的公開信,表達了堅決地不愿意脫歐的立場。
致英國選民,
作為103所大學(xué)的校長,我們密切關(guān)注英國退出歐盟之后對于我們的大學(xué)和學(xué)生的影響。
我們的大學(xué)對于當(dāng)?shù)氐纳鐓^(qū)和經(jīng)濟的影響不應(yīng)該被低估。每年,大學(xué)為英國經(jīng)濟貢獻了730億英鎊,其中37億英鎊是來自于歐盟國家的學(xué)生,同時還創(chuàng)造了380,000個就業(yè)崗位。這些強勢的大學(xué)造福這英國人民——提供了就業(yè)機會,前沿科技方面的突破改善了人民的生活。
作為歐盟的一員,這些積極的影響進一步被放大。在歐盟內(nèi),我們可以更容易地在開拓性的領(lǐng)域產(chǎn)生協(xié)作,不管是從癌癥治療到環(huán)境問題。歐盟成員的身份幫助英國大學(xué)吸引全歐洲最頂尖的人才,提高了大學(xué)的研究和教學(xué)實力,因此也能提供更多經(jīng)濟增長。
自愿脫離世界上最大的經(jīng)濟聯(lián)盟將會降低我們在科技創(chuàng)新方面的全球頂尖地位,讓用于校園的資金收緊,限制英國人民的機會。
我們堅信,脫離歐洲將會使我們面臨一個艱難的環(huán)境——需要長期投資支持高等教育和科研,以繼續(xù)維持英國這一高技能型和具有全球競爭力的知識經(jīng)濟體系。
