交通出行一直是雅思考試的高頻話題,9月份我們剛剛送出了一批小伙伴們踏上出國留學(xué)的征程,今天就讓我們來一起學(xué)習(xí)下在機(jī)場會用到的英語單詞吧!

First you go to the check-in desk to weigh your luggage.

PHRASAL VERB(在機(jī)場)辦理登機(jī)手續(xù),檢票登機(jī)

When you check in at an airport, you arrive and show your ticket before going on a flight. 

N-UNCOUNT行李

Luggage is the suitcases and bags that you take with you when travel.

The airline representative checks your ticket and gives you a boarding card/pass for your plane with your seat number on it.

N-COUNT航空公司

An airline is a company which provides regular services carrying people or goods in aeroplanes.

VERB上,登上(火車、輪船或飛機(jī))

When you board a train, ship, or aircraft, you get on it in order to travel somewhere.

Then you go through the passport control where an official checks your passport and into the departure lounge.

N-VAR離開;啟程;動身;出發(fā)

Departure or a departure is the act of going away from somewhere.


N-COUNT候機(jī)廳;候機(jī)大堂

In an airport, a lounge is a very large room where people can sit and wait for aircraft to arrive or leave.

If you have hand luggage, you can put it under your seat or in the overhead locker above your seat.

N-UNCOUNT(可隨身帶上飛機(jī)的)手提行李

When you travel by air, your hand luggage is the luggage you have with you in the plane, rather than the luggage that is carried in the hold.

You may want or need to understand certain announcements(通知); these come from the captain(=the pilot) or from an air steward or stewardess /cabin crew/flight attendants(= people who look after the passengers):

Please fasten your seat belt and put your seat in the upright position. 

    

May we remind passengers that there is no smoking until you are inside the terminal building (= where passengers arrive and depart).

A terminal is a place where vehicles, passengers, or goods begin or end a journey.

When the plane lands, you have to wait for it to stop / come to a halt. When the doors are open, you get off the plane and walk through the terminal building and go to the baggage reclaim where you collect your luggage.

Your baggage consists of the bags that you take with you when you travel.

VERB要求歸還(或恢復(fù));收回

If you reclaim something that you have lost or that has been taken away from you, you succeed in getting it back.

You then pass through customs.

Customs is the place where people arriving from a foreign country have to declare goods that they bring with them.
